June sights and smells

Daily Journey Journal #319: come to life

From April 11, 2015

I have been saying it for weeks now, but I think spring really, truly is here. It isn’t just the vicious wind or sunnier days, the blue skies or drier weathering that have me saying this. Rather, everything is coming back to life.

The bush outside out front door had buds this week and despite the snow on Wednesday, it leafed out this morning. Flower stems are popping out of the dirt at the trunk of the bush and greenery is starting to take over the brittle brown in the flower beds. The grass is beginning to turn green and unflatten itself.

In the forest, the early flowers have bloomed purple and yellow. Their colors explode on the dry, brown dirt. They promise that colorful months are coming and let me know that the most beautiful months of the year will be here soon.

Just a few more weeks!
